The UbiBot WS1 Pro is a logger with a 4.4-inch LCD screen, in two versions: WiFi, or WiFi and LTE with a SIM card. It measures conditions in the room, and with external probes also inside a fridge, freezer or a second point in the hall. When a reading crosses a threshold, it alerts you by SMS, email, in the app, on WhatsApp or by voice call.

WiFi or LTE: which WS1 Pro to choose

Both versions measure the same and work on the same UbiBot platform. They differ in how the data reaches the cloud.

WS1 Pro WiFi connects to the 2.4 GHz WiFi network in the building. It is the usual choice for pharmacies, warehouses, laboratories and server rooms with a stable network.
WS1 Pro WiFi and LTE has a 4G LTE modem and a Micro SIM slot, so it does not depend on a router. Choose it when there is no WiFi at the site, when the company network does not admit IoT devices or runs only on 5 GHz or with RADIUS login, or when the alert must get through during a power cut that takes the router down.

You can use a data SIM from any operator in your country, which is usually the cheapest option; you only enter the operator's APN. The UbiBot Global SIM included in the box is optional and useful when the logger works in several countries. The SIM only carries data: SMS and other alerts are sent by the UbiBot cloud platform. With a reading every 15 minutes, the logger uses about 150-200 MB of data a month.

4.4-inch LCD screen: readings without a phone

The cloud and SMS alerts protect you against failures nobody sees. The screen solves a different problem: a pharmacist, cook or warehouse worker checks the temperature at a glance, and an inspector sees the reading on the spot. The WS1 Pro shows:

temperature, humidity and light,
probe readings (switched with a button),
battery level and signal strength,
data upload status and an error code when a connection fails.

Pressing the power button twice switches between °C and °F. A single press forces a sync, and a voice message tells you whether the data reached the server.

Battery life is stated by the manufacturer and depends mainly on the reading interval and signal strength. The logger needs a WiFi signal better than -89 dBm and works best between -50 and -70 dBm. For continuous use, powering the WS1 Pro from the mains is the most convenient.

External probes for the WS1 Pro

The WS1 Pro has two micro-USB ports: the upper one (EXT1) powers the device and takes a DS18B20 probe; the lower one (EXT2) takes a second DS18B20 or one RS485 probe. With a micro-USB splitter you connect two DS18B20 probes and a third RS485 probe. Options:

DS18B20: waterproof, -55 to +125 °C, for a fridge, freezer, chamber or liquid; the logger stays outside.
TH30S-B: temperature and humidity at a second point, ±0.2 °C and ±2 % RH.
PT100: ovens, tanks and processes, -200 to +400 °C.
STH-N1 soil probe: soil moisture and temperature in a greenhouse or tunnel.
90 dB light and sound alarm: an alert you can hear on site.

A probe on a cable is calibrated separately: when measurement must not stop, the probe goes to the laboratory and the logger keeps working with the second one. See all probes and accessories.

Calibration and certificates

On request, we supply the WS1 Pro with a calibration certificate from a PCA-accredited laboratory (Poland), with points matched to the use: +2 and +8 °C for a medicine fridge, or temperature and humidity points for rooms. Probes on a cable can be calibrated too. Calibration adds 5-6 business days to the order; electronic meters are usually recalibrated once a year. The manufacturer does not currently hold an EN 12830 certificate.

The WS1 Pro carries the CE mark and meets RoHS requirements. It also has FCC (USA), IC (Canada), TELEC (Japan) and RCM (Australia) approvals, and the manufacturer lists an FDA registration.

Medicine fridge setup

The most common setup at our healthcare customers: the WS1 Pro hangs on the fridge door on a magnetic holder, a DS18B20 probe works inside, the logger runs on mains power with AA batteries as backup, and the alert fires outside +2 to +8 °C. Staff see the temperature on the screen without logging in. For blood fridges we use two independent probes and an audible alarm in the device, optionally with a 90 dB light and sound alarm.

Questions about the UbiBot WS1 Pro

Do I have to use the UbiBot Global SIM? No. The LTE version works with a data SIM from any operator, which is usually cheaper. Global SIM suits devices working in several countries (see the UbiBot Global SIM plans).

Is there a subscription for the platform? No. The free plan covers the cloud, the app, reports, and app and email alerts. Only SMS, voice calls and WhatsApp are paid, in credits under the UbiBot price list.

Can the WS1 Pro go in a freezer or outdoors? It works from -20 to +60 °C and is not waterproof. Put a DS18B20 probe in the freezer and keep the logger outside; outdoors or in damp places, use an IP53 case.

Will the WS1 Pro connect to a company network? Yes, if the network runs on 2.4 GHz with WPA/WPA2. It does not support 5 GHz-only networks or WPA2-Enterprise (RADIUS login); in that case choose the LTE version.
