The UbiBot WS1 is a small logger (65 × 65 mm, 32 g) that measures temperature, humidity and light and sends the readings over WiFi to the UbiBot cloud. It runs on two AA batteries or a USB cable. Plug a DS18B20 temperature probe on a cable into the micro-USB port: the logger stays outside, and the probe measures the inside of a fridge, freezer or chamber, from -55 to +125 °C.
Accuracy is stated by the manufacturer; in practice it also depends on where the logger is mounted (see the user manual).
The WS1 is not waterproof. In a damp place, or where humidity stays above 90 %, put it in a waterproof case or measure with a DS18B20 probe and keep the logger in a dry spot.
Readings go to the free UbiBot cloud. You see current values, charts and history in the phone app or in a web browser, on the same UbiBot platform. One account holds many loggers, for example every fridge in a pharmacy.
The free cloud holds one device's data for one to two or three years, depending on the number of sensors and the reading interval. You can export history to PDF or CSV and then delete it from the cloud, all at once or by date range, so the free plan lasts indefinitely.
The WS1 keeps measuring and stores up to 300,000 readings in its memory, then uploads them to the cloud when the network returns. The platform tells you that the logger has stopped connecting. You can also download the data over USB with the PC Tools program for Windows or macOS.
You set separate thresholds for each sensor. When a reading crosses one, the platform alerts you in the app, by email, by SMS, on WhatsApp or by voice call. You also get an alert when the logger loses its connection. App and email alerts are free; SMS, calls and WhatsApp are paid in credits under the UbiBot platform price list.

Battery life depends mainly on the reading interval and WiFi signal strength. In our test, a WS1 reading every 3 hours with a -50 dBm signal ran for 23 months on one set of batteries. The logger needs a signal better than -89 dBm and works best between -50 and -70 dBm.

UbiBot devices carry the CE mark and meet RoHS requirements. The manufacturer also lists market approvals such as FCC (USA), IC (Canada) and RCM (Australia).
The WS1 works wherever there is WiFi and you need to know when temperature or humidity leaves the safe range.
Does the WS1 work without WiFi? It needs 2.4 GHz WiFi to send data. Without a network it keeps measuring and storing readings, but alerts cannot go out. Where there is no WiFi, choose the UbiBot WS1 Pro with an LTE modem.
Can I put the WS1 inside a fridge or freezer? No, put the DS18B20 probe inside. The logger stays outside, because a metal fridge blocks WiFi and AA batteries do not cope well with frost.
Is there a subscription for the platform? No. The free plan covers the cloud, the app, reports, and app and email alerts. Only SMS, calls and WhatsApp are paid.
Can I get a calibration certificate? Yes. On request, we supply the WS1 with a calibration certificate from a PCA-accredited laboratory (Poland) at the points you choose. The manufacturer does not currently hold an EN 12830 certificate.
